Pre-order my new cool personal science fiction anthology zine. Every story is written and drawn by me, and the book is designed by me! It's risograph printed by JAM in Osaka. I expect to fulfill all pre-orders in about a month (by the end of August).
This is a fun work of art. I think these stories are wild and loopy and ya know what... maybe they'll make ya think about this wild and loopy world we all live in, in a new way. Or wait - no, no. You don't have to think about it. It's escapism! It's science fiction! Fantasy! Just fun and beautiful. You can enjoy this entertainment with smiles and laughter.
"The Strange Force" is about the discovery of 12 perfect worlds in space, and how or why anyone could or would save them from destruction.
"Songs of the Field" is about a lizard man in space with strong morals, who unfortunately meets some humans.
"Working in the Future" is about the last human mail carrier in the galaxy and the robots who help her serve the public.
"S.F." is a science fiction series I've drawn for many years. You can consider this zine a selection or folder of various "supplementary files" (side stories) in a wider universe. You don't have to have read any other S.F. comics to enjoy these stories.
Some details and statistics. The book is 52 pages, 7"x10", printed mostly in full four-color "faux-CMYK" risograph inks (they're brighter and weirder than CMYK though!) with some various weird colors throughout. The binding is sewn and glued with a translucent cover sheet. (It's just like my Style and Fashion Zine series. But this is bigger actually! It'll be cool!!!)
Oh, and - I'm including a giant poster in every pre-order as well. I forgot to mention that!! It's a poster for C.A.M. who is a robot character in the book. It's a 5-color print with fluorescent red AND fluorescent green inks! Yowwwwza!!! (the blue and yellow are quite bright as well) It's about 9.5 x 13.5inches (yes it's designed to fold cleanly inside the front cover the Shorts Folio).
Your preorder is very meaningful and helpful to me. You're helping me to fund the print run and the shipping from Japan to my warehouse (ahem... one corner the baby nursery/office in our 2 bedroom apartment), from which I'll pack and ship the books to customers.
I think it's cool that you get to have this cool work of art, a book, with stories you can read - and you don't even have to pay a cut to Apple or Amazon or Google. There's lots of great art out there - I am pleased to offer you S.F. Shorts Folio #1 as one nice piece.
